Recent Department Promotions

Chief Edna Johnson is pleased to announce that recent departmental promotions were celebrated during a ceremony held on August 7, 2008 at Old City Hall.  Lt. James Jordan was promoted to Captain and will be transferring to command the Special Services Division.  Lt. Shaun Johnson was also promoted from sergeant and will be stepping into Capt. Jordan's former position as the lead Brunswick Police representative at GBNET.  In addition, the following officers were promoted to the position of sergeant:  Sgt. Anthony Smith, Sgt. Russell Berger, and Sgt. Justin Juliano.  Our congratulations go out to all of these outstanding officers!

As Chief of Police of a historical Port city police department, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to both our website and our community.  The Brunswick Police Department has been serving this community since 1838.  Throughout the years, providing quality service for the citizens and visitors of the City of Brunswick remains paramount for our agency.  We are committed to providing professional and ethical services by maintaining the highest law enforcement standards through effective policy development, training and accountability.  We support successful community partnerships, proactive policing and problem solving.  Creating a safer community through education, community involvement and aggressive patrol is the current overall goal for our agency.  We are truly committed to our citizens and those who visit the City of Brunswick.
