FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at approximately 10:38 A.M. Officers of The Brunswick Police Department, received a dispatched call regarding a stolen automobile. The vehicle in question (a White Chevy Tahoe) was taken from the 2900 Block of Reynolds Street. While on assertive patrol in the area of O Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard at approximately 11:07 A.M. a BPD Officer located a vehicle fitting the description of the stolen vehicle in question. The driver of said vehicle attempted to flee and elude the Officer. Prior to the Officer initiating his emergency equipment the driver of this vehicle apparently lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of “L” Street and Wolfe Street, and drove the vehicle into the northwest corner of the residence located at 1200 “L” Street; causing substantial damage to the residence as well as to the vehicle in question.
The driver got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee from the scene on foot, but was apprehended by responding Officers. The driver (Robert Lamar Pinckney of Brunswick, Ga.) was transported to the Southeast Georgia Health System- Brunswick Campus for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Once released from the hospital; Mr. Pinckney was transported to the Glynn County Detention Center, and charges are currently pending. In addition, two other individuals who were inside the residence at the time of the accident were also transported to the same medical facility; where they were treated and released for non-life threatening injuries.
